Wood is one of the only renewable fuels and is one of the most sustainable. Modern Wood burning stoves produce an impressively low amount of smoke and ash which means that cleaning the stove is an easy task, even in daily use the stove should not need cleaning out more than every week to 10 days, also wood tends to burn better on a bed of ashes. Many of the stoves available at the Heat Store now burn clean enough to be used in smoke-free zones (DEFRA exempt).

Wood burning stoves are an efficient and cost effective heat source for your home. An open fire is beautiful to look at but burning logs in a grate is a very inefficient way of heating, if you are lucky you will achieve approximately 20% efficiency from an open fire. Open fires when not in use will draw the warm air from your room into the chimney and out, which is replaced by cold air from outside.
